The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program is the primary beneficiary of the Cognizant Founders Cup. The Founders Cup is an innovative tournament created to honor the 13 women who founded the LPGA over 60 years ago. Over the past six years, the Founders Cup has raised almost $4 million dollars for the Girls Golf Program. Those donations allowed Girls Golf to add 34 new sites and support growing locations that doubled in size. They have also been able to support new and existing sites with additional marketing materials, signage and event support.
The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program was established in 1989 to provide an opportunity for girls, ages 7 to 17, to learn to play golf, build lasting friendships, and experience competition in a fun, supportive environment. This program also teaches them life skills through golf such as patience, respect, honesty, confidence, focus, determination, which will benefit them in the challenges they face in future. The Girls Golf program puts emphases on illustrating five main elements through teachings and friendly competition, which are also known as ‘The 5 E’s’.
